The ONE Product That Cleared My Acne! Pt 2

To anyone out there that has acne or has had acne in the past, I am so sorry. Not everyone will understand your struggle, but I promise I do- and it will get better! That being said, I wanted to share my skincare routine as well as some overall tips to improve your skin!

Tula has been a game changer for me. I was never really one to believe in skincare. I thought that having a gentle face wash and moisturizer would be enough. I figured the real work needed to be done on the inside- eating healthy, taking supplements, etc. But Tula has truly changed my skin and I'm so grateful to them! TULA Pro‑Glycolic 10% pH Resurfacing Gel: This product is AMAZING!!! Glycolic acid seriously does wonders for acne and clogged pores. It resurfaces your skin, leaving no room for gunk to build up. I think this has been a main component in my acne diminishing! Even when I have a breakout, I put this on at night all over my face and everything is so much calmer by the morning. You’re also probably wondering why this is titled “The ONE Product That Cleared My Acne,” and this is because I think this product is that one thing! But it’s so important to have an overall solid skincare routine- and the next products are a part of that!

TULA Hydrating Day and Night Cream: I can’t even tell you how much I love this cream!! It’s not greasy and sinks into my skin. It (obviously) smells amazing too! Whether you have oily or dry skin, you need this.

TULA Purifying Cleanser: I use this nearly every day. It smells amazing and it’s super gentle! I think it’s perfect for all skin types.

Neutrogena Naturals: I’ve used this line for years! I’m not really a fan of the moisturizer but LOVE this cleanser! It takes off makeup and again, it’s very gentle.

Thayers Natural Remedies Witch Hazel: I really like using witch hazel as a toner for after I’ve washed my face. It calms my skin and I feel like it gets rid of any excess makeup!

OleHenriksen Cold Plunge Pore Mask: I love this mask! It feels so nice on the skin. It definitely has a cooling sensation. If you have large pores, you need this!

Ouai Hair Supplement for Oily Scalp: This is a new product that I haven’t tried yet but want to include in case you do want to try it! I bought it and I’m starting to take them every day. I hope that they make my hair (and skin!!) less oily! I’ve heard that it does wonders for your hair and your skin. Acne is caused by an excess amount of oils in your skin, so this should definitely help!

A product not pictured is St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I have used it since high school and absolutely love it. Exfoliating your skin is soo important! It gets rid of dead skin cells, makeup and everything else that gathers up on your skin over time. I usually exfoliate twice a week, but it’s all personal preference. (linked at the top of this post)

Another product I want to mention is the Clinique Dark Spot Corrector! (I linked it along with all the other products towards the top of this post) I used this in college and it smoothed everything out. I noticed a major difference in my dark spots. They’ve since changed the formula and I am going to try it out again soon! I definitely recommend trying it out if you have dark spots. Thanks for reading!

The ONE Product That Cleared My Acne! Pt. 1

If you have problematic skin, you've probably tried it all. I know I have! (Or so I thought.) I developed severe acne my junior year of high school. It was the most random time and I honestly don't know why it decided to start then! It continued until I was going into my freshman year of college and I knew I needed to change something. I went on an antibiotic and it cleared my acne right up! But I also got really bad headaches and stomaches- it just made me feel gross. I went off it about a year later.

I then was off medication for about six months- this was nearly 4 years ago so I don't fully remember the specifics. I went on birth control my sophomore/junior year of college. Again, my acne went away- almost entirely! It was AMAZING! I honestly forgot what it was like to have acne, which is so weird. For years on end I would wake up every day and want to cry looking in the mirror. Fearing that all people would ever associate me with was the red, blotchy bumps all over my face. I think the worst part was the people that would ask me what I was doing about it. As if I had just accepted that my face would be like this and I must be some kind of gross person that washes their face once a week. (Okay definitely not true, but you get the point lol.)

I stopped birth control my senior year of college. As you have most likely gathered at this point, medication does not like me. I woke up one morning with the worst headache, I was shaking and sweating (I wasn't sick) and I knew the birth control had really taken its toll on me. I had always had these side effects- minimally. That morning was a whole other story. So there I was, back at square one. I decided to just see if mayyyybeee my acne wouldn't come back this time. And it didn't...for 6 months. July of 2017 my acne came back, and then it just kept appearing. I felt like I was 17 again lol.

I dealt with just living with acne for about 9-10 months after that. I am currently trying to change my diet-to be honest, I like junk food and I don't know how to cook- so this has been interesting. Apple cider vinegar and probiotics are apparently amazing! I haven't consistency had either to notice a difference. I think overall eating better is my main goal, for my skin and my health! While eating healthy is a major component to how your skin looks and feels, it’s not everything. I’m a strong believer in a rigid skincare routine. I wasn’t always like this, in fact I didn’t think that skincare would even do much for me! But it’s about sticking to certain products that you know work for your skin and giving them enough time to do their job. Just like sticking to eating healthier!
